إن القضية التي تعالجها هذه الدراسة هي قضية التعامل مع النص القرآني، وهي قضية محورية ف \ي الدين الإسلامي والعلوم الإسلامية كلها، وعلى رأسها علم التفسير، والسؤال المحوري الذي تثيره هو: إلى أي حد استطاع علم التفسير أن يعين القارئ على التعامل الجيد مع النص القرآني؟
وللرد على هذا التساؤل تم تقسيم هذه الدراسة على ثلاثة أبواب، طرح الباب الأول مجموعة من المقدمات التي يجدر بنانها للكشف عما اعتبره المؤلف خللاً منهجياً في علم التفسير، والذي كان وراء تسرب العقائد المسيحية، مثلاً، إلى الثقافة والعقل المسلم.
أما الباب الثاني فتناول موضوع الألوهية والنبوة، فتحدث عن الألوهية من خلال قضيتين الكلمة والروح، وتحدث أيضاً عن نبوة المسيح ورسالته. ومعجزاته، ووفاته عليه السلام وذلك على ضوء القرآن والإنجيل والروايات التفسيرية التي تأثرت بما عند المسيحيين بدرجات متفاوتة بين المفسرين.
وخصص الباب الثالث للحديث عن أشراط الساعة، مبيناً مدى تأثر المسلمين بالعقائد المسيحية في هذا الموضوع إلى درجة تحريف الكلم عن موضعه، وقد عالج كمثال على ذلك مواضيع المسيح المنتظر والمسيح الدجال ويأجوج ومأجوج، وطلوع الشمس في مغربها... الخ الواردة في القرآن.
