الكتاب الذي بين يديك، محاولة للتعرف إلى الإباضية، التي تكاد تكون مجهولة لدى الكثير من العرب والمسلمين، وقد حرص مؤلفه على أن يعرف بها كما يراها أئمتها وعلماءها لذلك لم يدخل في تحليل وتعليل ما كتبه عنها العلماء والمؤرخون القدامى، والمحدثون وإنما أسهب الحديث عن نشأتها كفرقة إسلامية، مبيناً بعد ذلك مبادئها وتعاليمها وانتشارها وقيام إمامتها في المشرق والمغرب، وأعطى بعد هذا نماذج عن تراثها الأدبي. والهدف الذي توخاه هو إطلاع المسلم والعربي على مبادئ هذه الفرقة وعلى شعارات اتباعها القائلين مع عبد الله بن يحي طالب الحق: "الإسلام ديننا ومحمد نبينا، والكعبة قبلتنا والقرآن إمامنا".
