يتناول هذا الكتاب سيرة "محمد الحسن آل ياسين" الذي هي إمتداد طبيعياً لسيرة والده الشيخ "محمد رضا آل ياسين"، وذلك لنشأته الكريمة، ودراسته المثمرة، ومثالياته الرائعة، وبذا احتل المكانة المرموقة من التمكن والوثوق والإطمئنان.
إن في حياة الشيخ "محمد حسن آل ياسين" حياة خصبة حافلة بالإنتاج الفكري، متعددة الجوانب، رحبة الآفاق، وكان الذين لا يعرفونه معرفة شخصية لا يتصورونه إلاّ أحد هؤلاء الشيوخ الذي يدعون إلى الإسلام بالطريقة التقليدية وما أكثرهم في هذه البلاد... فإذا اتصلوا به، واستمعوا إليه عن كثب فاجأتهم شخصية أخرى لم تكن في خاطرهم عندما تصوروا الشيخ "آل ياسين".
ويعد هذا الكتاب محاولة تحليل شخصية هذا الشيخ الذي أصبح في طليعة رجال الفكر والإصلاح... وأصبحت كتبه وخطبه فيضاً من الروح الإنسانية المتأملة، والمتوغلة في صميم النفس البشرية المتسامية... وأضحى مصدراً لطاقة روحية مشحونة بالإبداع والتجديد؛ فانتشرت مؤلفاته على إمتداد الوطن العربي والإسلامي، وأُعيد طبع أغلبها مرات عديدة، ونقل عنها الكثير من العلماء والباحثين، واعتبرت كمصادر مهمة لكتبهم وبحوثهم.
وعلى هذا فقد صممت الكاتب على جمع وطبع هذا الثبت بمؤلفات وآثار هذا الشيخ الجليل التي كنتُ أتتبعها منذ أكثر من ربع قرن؛ خدمة للباحثين والقراء، وصنف على الوجه الآتي: 1-الكتب المؤلفة، 2-الكتب المحققة، 3-البحوث والمقالات والمقابلات المنشورة في المجلات والصحف العراقية والعربية ونماذج منها.
وقد أشار إلى التقاريظ المنشورة عن مؤلفاته وتحقيقاته تحت اسم كل كتاب... واقتطف من الرسائل الشخصية والتقاريظ التي تسلمها من أعلام الفكر والأدب في مختلف أنحاء العالم؛ ووصف كل كتاب من حيث محتواه وعدد طبعاته ومحل وسنة الطبع وعدد أوراقه، وصدر لعمله هذا بترجمة مركزة عن حياته وأهم مصادر دراسته.
