والكتاب في مضمونه بمثابة الدليل إلى التعاليم المسيحية بما فيها الحمل الفصحيّ والعهد الجديد، بما لهما من صلة بموضوع الراعي الصالح كما يبنيه القديس يوحنا، كذلك يقف الكتاب على حقيقة وليمة المعاد، ومأدبة الملوك، و"الخبز الذي نزل من السماء... من يأكل من هذا الخبز يحيا إلى الأبد" يوحنا: طوبى للمدعوين إلى وليمة عرس الحمل" رؤيا يوحنا.. وغيرها من تعاليم روحانية وصلوات (رتبة سجدة الصليب يوم الجمعة العظيمة) وعن كرمة بني إسرائيل وشجرة الحياة وسط الجنة، وعن (مريم البتول) والولادة... والصلاة والطريق إلى الملكوت، وقيامة المسيح "بقيامتك، أيها المسيح"، أبهجت قلوبنا وأعدت لنا فرح الحياة...".
