يشكل هذا الكتاب سيرة حياة الإمام الحسين عليه السلام، فالحسين في سطور عنوان يوحي بمزايا الإمامة والإنتماء إلى بيت الرسول الأعظم صلى الله عليه وسلم، وما وقع من أحداث وتضحيات وشهادة ومواقف مؤثرة، دفاعاً عن الدين، كما يوحي العنوان أيضاً بأنه حديث عن الإمام الحسين وآل بيته من أعمامه وعماته، أخواله وخالاته، إخوانه وأخواته، آبائه وأبناءه، مناصريه والملتحقين به رجالاً ونساءً، والمتخلفين عن ركبه والمتسللين منه، الشهداء والجرحى وكل من سار على درب الحسين.
وهكذا أراد المؤلف أن يكون هذا الكتاب عن سيرة الإمام الحسين كشخص ونهضة وتفاعل بين القارئ ومدرسة أهل البيت وكل ما يخص الإمام ونهضته وأهدافه المباركة.
