في كتابه "خطرة الزواج بين الفقه والطب" يسعى الدكتور زياد محمد حميدان إلى التقريب بين الدين والعلم في النظر إلى موضوعة الزواج باعتباره موضوع يحدده الشارع الحكيم وفق أسس ومعايير دقيقة تهذب الغريزة من دون إطلاق العنان لها، بل بالإرتقاء بها إلى بناء أسرة يتم وفقها اختيار الزوجة الصالحة، والزوج الذي يستطيع تحمل المسؤولية عن اقتدار، وإهم مؤهلاته، الدين المستقيم، والخلق الرفيع، فقد جعل النبي ثلى الله عليه وسلم الدين والخلق مقترنان، أساساً لإختيار الزوج.
وفي هذا السياق يتبع المؤلف تقسيماً منهجياً لكتابه يستهله بالناحية الشرعية ويبدأ بـ تعريف الزواج، ثم الإستشهاد بالآيات القرآنية وأقوال بعض المفسرين الذي يدعم موضوع الشاهد، الأحاديث النبوية الشريفة، مقدماً في الصحيح، ثم ذكر بعض آثار السلف والأشعار التي تدعم الموضوع، بعد ذلك يتناول فوائد الزواج ومقاصد الشريعة في تشريع الزواج والحكم الشرعي للزواج، ثم يعرج على ضوابط اختيار الزوجين، وحقوق الزوجين وواجباتهما، والقواعد التي تحمي الأسرة من مفسداتها، وإرشادات الشرع المطهَر للوقاية من عواقب بعض الأفعال، التي تؤدي إلى إفساد الأسرة، فالوقاية خيرَ من العلاج...
ويختتم الكتاب في بيان مجمل المحرمات في العلاقة بين الزوجين (الممارسات المحرمة) التي يقع فيها كثير من الناس، إما جهلاً بحمها الشرعي، أو غفلة عن الأضرار الصحية والنفسية والإجتماعية...
