تعتبر جماعة الإخوان المسلمين أهم تنظيم إسلامي سياسي في الأردن، حيث تأسست الجماعة عام 1946م كإمتداد للجماعة الأم في مصر، ولا تزال تمارس عملها بالدعوة وتطبيق الشريعة الإسلامية بالإضافة إلى ممارسة عملها السياسي من خلال الإشتراك في السلطتين التشريعية والتنفيذية.
وتبرز أهمية الدراسة في تحديد دور جماعة الإخوان المسلمين في الحياة العامة في الأردن ودراسة خصائصها البنيوية التي قد تساعدها على تطوير أدائها، كما أن الجماعة ظلت تمارس دورها الذي أنشئت من أجله بالإضافة إلى ممارسة دور سياسي فعال في الأردن.
كما أن الدور الذي لعبه الإخوان المسلمين تمثل بالإنخراط بأدوار سياسية، فالجماعة لا تؤمن بالإبتعاد عن الشأن السياسي، كما أنها تؤدي أدوار إجتماعية، وإقتصادية، وتطوعية تمثلت في إنشائها للمدارس والمعاهد والجامعات بالإضافة إلى المستشفيات والدخول في القطاع الإقتصادي بشكل فاعل، لأن المال يعتبر من مصادر القوة لأي تنظيم يسعى إلى تنفيذ أجندته في مختلف المجالات، وتظهر دراسة أهمية تجربة الإخوان المسلمين إذا ما قورنت بتجارب الأحزاب السياسية الأخرى على الساحة الأردنية، أو بالجماعات الإسلامية العاملة في العالمين العربي والإسلامي التي غالباً ما واجهت صعوبات في عملها وتكيفها مع الأنظمة السياسية.
