هي روايةٌ ولا كلّ الرِّوايات الرومانسيّة الشيِّقة... بطلاها يستمدّان جَذَلَ ترنيمة فرحهما الشجيّ الوقع والإيقاع مِنْ عذاب قلبيهما الحزينين؛ صنوّ "عصفور - الشوك" الذي يطلق أروع ترنيمة له عندما ينغرز في صميم قلبه بشوكةٍ عتيّةٍ.
... فثُنائيٌ هذه الرواية متوائمان كل التّواؤُم متفرِّدان كل التفرُّد، إستثنائيان كحبيبّيْن وفيّيْن... قد صَدَقَ بكل منهما، كصاحب رسالةٍ حقيقيةٍ متجانسةٍ مع رسالةِ توأم - روحه: القول التالي لأمير الشعراء "الأخطل الصغير" في قصيدته الرابعة: "أشِعَةٌ تتكلّمُ"، ألا وهو، "سُبْحانَ مِنْ جَعَلَ الغِناءَ رسالةً... كالشِّعْرِ، أفْتَنُ ما سَبَاكَ... التَوْأمُ... ثَمِلَتْ به الأزهارُ... وهي أجِنّةٌ... وتشوّقَتْ... فإنْبَثَقَتْ عنها البُرْعُمُ".
