شكلت تجربة الخوارج الفكرية والعلمية إرثاً أصيلاً لما تلاها من إنتفاضات وثورات للأحزاب والفرق الإسلامية، بغض النظر عن إختلافها أو إتفاقها مع الخوارج.
يمثل مبدأ "الخروج" الذي عمل به الخوارج أسلوباً ثورياً رائداً، وهو الأسلوب الذي اتبعته حركات المعارضة في أنحاء كثيرة من العالم الإسلامي فيما بعد، وقد برز هذا الأسلوب إزاء التيار المثقف الذي يفلسف العالم، والذي تفرعت عنه فيما بعد نزعات الزهد والإعتزال والتصوف.
يحدثنا هذا الكتاب عن صوت طلع من صحراء العرب منذ أربعة عشر قرناً، يحمل في تضاعيفه "لا" مجلجلة تجاه ما يحدث من صراع، وقتل وتطاحن على السلطة، وما زال الإسلام في عقوده الأولى.
إن الخوارج تعبير مباشر عن حالة إحتقان وتراكم خيبات، وأحلام مؤجلة، فأين المساواة التي بشّر بها الإسلام؟... وأين العدالة التي دعا إليها؟... وهل أخوّة الإسلام قائمة حقاً؟... وعن أي دين يتحدثون؟!...
