في كتابه هذا يتحرى الدكتور عودة الله منيع القيسي الإعجاز اللغوي في قصص نوح عليه السلام في القرآن الكريم، وبالتحديد "الوقوف الجزئي عند اللفظة في سياقها" ويقصد بذلك لفظة واحدة هي (فلا تبتئس)، وذلك في قصة نوح عليه السلام، قال تعالى لنوح: "وأوحى إلى نوح أنه لن يؤمن من قومك إلا من آمن فلا تبتئس بما كانوا يفعلون"، وهنا يبدأ المؤلف بتقصي الإعجاز اللغوي في قوله تعالى: (لا تبتئس)، فيبين للقارئ لماذا لم يقل: (فلا تحزن)، فيقول "لأن الله تعالى يعلم أن نوحاً بشر، وإن كان رسولاً، فلا يملك إلا أن يحزن على قومه الذي عاش بينهم يدعوهم ألف سنةٍ إلا خمسين عاماً (...)، وكلمة (فلا تحزن) لا يمكن أن تسد مسدَ (فلا تيئس) وليس هناك كلمة أخرى تؤدي هذا المعنى... غيرها".
وفي هذا السياق يناقش المؤلف جميع المؤلفات التي وردت في إعجاز القرآن اللغوي، وأهم من كتب فيها، وكان من أوائلهم عمرو ابن بحر الجاحظ (ت 255) في كتابه "نظم القرآن" مروراً بالباقلاني صاحب "إعجاز القرآن" والإمام عبد القاهر الجرحاني في كتابه "دلائل الإعجاز" وآخرون, ويعتبر أن جميع تلك المؤلفات لم تقف عند "جزئيات النص القرآني سواء أكان آية أو بضع آيات بحيث ينظر إلى اللفظة في سياقها فيبين أن هذه اللفظة هي غلق في هذا المكان، ولا تسد مسدَها فيه لفظة أخرى" من هنا دأب مؤلف الكتاب إلى الإعتناء باللفظة مبرراً ذلك بقوله: "إن قصص نوح هذا الذي تناولناه من ناحية أعجاز اللفظ لا من ناحية القصَ، لم يرد فيه شيء لم يحدث في (الواقع) (...)". وفي هذا يورد آيات تناولت وصف السفينة وسائر الأحداث والأوصاف التي وردت في القصص" وقد بنى تحليله كما يقول على كتب التفسير، وكتب المتشابه اللفظي وإعجاز القرآن اللغوي للوصول بالدراسة إلى فهم أشمل وأفضل للإعجاز اللغوي في كتاب الله.
