اهتم المسلمون بالسبحة وكرموها وأظهروا حبهم لها وأنشأوا في مدحها القصائد، وصار مجرد ذكر بعض أنواعها يثير عند بعضهم مشاعر يهتز لها الوجدان، وتنحدر من أجلها الدموع.
لقد كانت السبحة وما زالت عند هؤلاء هي المعاني السامية التي من أجلها خلق الإنسان، ولأجلها ارتفعت مكانته وسما قدره على سائر المخلوقات.
السبحة هي وسيلة العبادة وهي المنشطة عليها، والمشجعة على التفاني فيها والاستغراق في بحورها... هي المذكرة التي تطرد النسيان عن حاملها، وتدفعه إلى العمل بها وتساعده على بناء جسر بينه وبين الغفلة والركون للدعة، والنوم ومحبة الدنيا. هي الوسيلة التي بها تدرك المقاصد وتنال الدرجات العليا. هي مفتاح النور الذي به تتبدد ظلمات القلب ويكشف الغطاء عن الفرد.
إن حبها إذن هو حب للمعاني السامية التي إليها ترمز، والمهمة الكبرى التي إليها تدفع، والغاية القصوى التي إليها تقود.
وإن تعجب فعجب قولهم إنها بدعة والعمل على تنفير الناس منها، وعدم تقديم بديل لها يقوم بأداء وظيفتها في الأذكار الكثيرة، مع علمهم بأن العد بالأصابع كما هو شاغل عن العبادة به، وصارف عنها إليه، هو كذلك مدعاة للغلط في العد.
لكل ما تقدم رأى الشيخ الفاتح قريب الله أن يكتب في ذلك كتاباً يصحح بع المفهوم الخاطئ عن السبحة ويثبت فيه مشروعيتها، ويبرز به الأدلة والبراهين على استحسان استعمالها وتكريمها.
