يركز الفصل الأول على التعريف بالمحاسبة المالية كفرع أساسي لنظام المعلومات المحاسبي والعناصر الأساسية للقوائم المالية المحاسبية وشرحاً مفصلاً لوظيفتي المحاسبة المالية وهما القياس والتوصيل. ويختم الفصل ببيان تفصيلي للمبادئ المحاسبية المقبولة قبولاً عاماً.
ويتناول الفصل الثاني طبيعة العمليات المحاسبية من خلال شرحاً تفصيلياً للدورة المحاسبية وعناصرها الرئيسية. ويستكمل الفصل الثالث الشرح التفصيلي للدورة المحاسبية حيث يركز على شرح عمليات القيد والترحيل وإعداد ميزان المراجعة.
وقد تم تخصيص الفصل الرابع لمرحلة أساسية في الدورة المحاسبية والخاصة بتطبيق أساس الإستحقاق المحاسبي والتسويات الجردية. ويكتمل شرح الدورة المحاسبية في الشركات الخدمية بالفصل الخامس الذي يتناول إعداد القوائم المالية المحاسبية وقيود الإقفال.
ويشرح الفصلين السادس والسابع العمليات المحاسبية الخاصة بالمشروعات التجارية من عمليات شراء وبيع البضاعة في ظل كل من المخزون الدوري والمخزون المستمر والتعامل بالأوراق التجارية مع العملاء والموردين.
