Book Description
(توسكا) هي واحدة من روائع قصص الأوبرا العالمية التي كتبها ملحن الأوبرا الإيطالي جاكامو بوتشيني.
تدور أحداث الأوبرا في روما العام 1800م خلال الغزو الفرنسي لإيطاليا، وتحكي قصة الجميلة توسكا وحبيبها كافارادوسي الذي يقوم بإخفاء صديقه السجين الهارب انجيلوتي. في هذه الأثناء يصدر سكاربيا رئيس الشرطة أمراً بالقبض على كافارادوسي ومن ثم إعدامه بعد اكتشافه مساعدته للسجين الهارب. تحضر توسكا إلى مكتب رئيس الشرطة لإقناعه بالعفو عن كافارادوسي، فيحاول استغلالها، تتظاهر بقبولها عرضه، حتى يوقّع أمراً بالعفو عن كافارادوسي ومن ثمّ تخبره بمكان وجود أنجيلوتي. وبعد كتابته تصريح العفو تقوم بطعنه بسكين في صدره. بعد ذلك تسرع توسكا إلى حبيبها لإنقاذه من السجن وتطلب منه التظاهر بالموت أثناء تنفيذ حكم الإعدام لأن الرصاص الذي سوف يصوّب نحوه ليس حقيقياً، لكنها تكتشف مصرعه بالفعل. وما هي إلا لحظات حتى سمعت صوت أشخاص آتين لاعتقالها. وعندما اقتربوا منها "تطلعت توسكا نحو السماء ورمت بنفسها على الأرض وهي تصرخ" أيها الشيطان سكاربيا! سنلتقي أمام الله". وبهذا تنتهي الأوبرا نهاية تراجيدية حيث تلقي توسكا بنفسها من أعلى الحصن. أما الجنود فما كان عليهم سوى أن ينظروا إلى أسفل حائط القصر.
