يضم هذا الكتاب عشر وحدات تناولت في الأولى المدخل إلى تاريخ الاتصال ومراحل تطوره ومظاهر الثورة المعلوماتية، أما الوحدة الثانية ففيها تحدثت عن الحاجة إلى الاتصال وأهميته وخصائصه وأهدافه ووظائفه ومستوياته ومكوناته وأشكاله اللفظي وغير اللفظي، اما الوحدة الثالثة فقد كانت عن الاتصال والارشاد الإلكتروني تم التطرق فيها إلى التعلم الإلكتروني وشبكة الإنترنت والأهمية التربوية الارشادية للإنترنت وأهمية شبكة الانترنت المدرسية والتطور الحديث في وسائل الاتصال والتخطيط للحملة الاعلامية الارشادية.
وفي الوحدة الرابعة كان الحديث ينصب على العملية الإرشادية ومراحل الارشاد وكفايات المرشد ودراسة الحالة وطرق وفنيات وتقييم العملية الإرشادية. أما الوحدة الخامسة فقد تضمنت مهارات الاتصال في الإرشاد حيث تم الحديث عن العديد من المهارات منها مهارة الاستماع، والانصات الفعال، وحل المشكلات واتخاذ القرار والمناقشة وعكس المشاعر ومهارات توجيه الأسئلة.
وفي الوحدة السادسة كان الحديث عن المقابلة الارشادية واهميتها وواجبات المرشد تجاه المسترشد أثناء المقابلة ومبادئ وخصائص المقابلة الإرشادية والعوامل المؤثرة فيها ومهارات الاتصال ومعوقات المقابلة الإرشادية.
ولأن الاتصال ووسائله المختلفة تساهم مساهمة فاعلة في الارتقاء بالفكر الإرشادي فقد أحببت أن يتضمن كتابي هذا وحدة عن وسائل الاتصال والإرشاد والفروق الفردية نظراً لأهمية دراسة الفروق الفردية في العملية الارشادية، كذلك تطرقت إلى أهمية دور وسائل الاتصال في دعم المرشد لضبط الانفعالات عند المسترشدين، واشرت إلى وسائل الاتصال والشخصية الإنسانية.
وفي ختام وحدات هذا الكتاب تطرقت إلى الاتصال والإرشاد والصحة النفسية والطرق لحل الأزمات النفسية وكيفية المحافظة على صحة نفسية مستقرة.
