يغوص الكاتب من خلال دراسته عميقًا باحثا في روح الثورة وجوهر مفهومها للتعرف على قوانين حركتها، محاولا اشتقاق معادلات وشروط يمكن من خلالها استيعاب وتأطير الحراك الشعبي الثوري في المنطقة العربية وإلقاء الضوء على محركتها ومولداتها الحقيقية واحتمالات مآلاتها.
وفي الوقت الذي يتوصّل فيه الكاتب إلى أن الثورة في مجتمعاتنا العربية واقعة حتمية قد تتحوّل إلى ظاهرة بسبب حجم الفجوة بين شعارات الأنظمة السياسية التي تلاشت مسوغات مشروعيتها وبين واقع الشعب العربي الذي تمزقه الانقسامات المجتمعية مضافا إلى شعور أجيال كاملة بالظلم والقهر والكبت والحرمان إضافة إلى البطالة والفقر وانعدام الأمل بالمستقبل، فإنه يرى أن الانتقالات النوعية والكبرى في تاريخ الشعوب تحدث فقط عندما يستوفي حراك هذه الشعوب لشروط الثورة كاملة والتي يحددها الكاتب بثلاثة عناصر (الفكرة الخلاقة، النخبة الشجاعة المنظمة، الجماهير الواعية) لكنه يشدد على شرط اختمار الثورة المضادة أو قطف ثمارها من قبل المغامرين والانتهازيين.
أما قصة الثورة في العراق فهي بسيطة وغير معقدة: جاء الاحتلال الأمريكي إلى العراق "بوصفة" سياسية وهي نظام المحاصصة الطائفية والعرقية. من الواضح بعد عشر سنوات أن الشعب العراقي يلفظ أنفاسه الأخيرة جراء هذه الوصفة، وهنا يأتي السؤال، هل لدى الطبقة السياسية الحاكمة التي حققت مكاسب نتيجة زواجها غير الشرعي بالاحتلال، النية أو الرغبة والاستعداد لتغيير هذه الوصفة، أم إنها ماضية في استمرار معاناة الشعب العراقي إلى أنه يلقى حتفه؟ هنا مربط الفرس وهذا هو السؤال الكبير الذي يفسّر سر الاحتقان والغليان الذي يعصف بكل شبر من أرض العراق... تأملت هذا الكتاب مجرّد إشارات على طريق الثورة الطويلة والشاقّة، ومحاولة متواضعة لكي ترسي مراكب هذه الثورة في مرافئها.
