هذه مجموعة من الدراسات والبحوث في تاريخ العرب وحضارتهم في الأندلس كان معظمها قد نشر في المجالات العلمية داخل العراق وخارجه، وارتأيت جمعها في كتاب واحد ليسهل الرجوع إليها. وقد دفعني إلى هذا أنها متكاملة في موضوعاتها، فهي تضم دراسات في التاريخ السياسي والعسكري والاجتماعي والاقتصادي للأندلس. إضافة إلى نواح أخرى مختلفة من الحضارة، لاسيما في مجا العلوم والرحلات العلمية بين المشرق والأندلس.
ويضم الكتاب أيضاً بعض الدراسات التي قمت بترجمتها عن اللغة الإنكليزية والتي لها علاقة وثيقة بالحضارة العربية الإسلامية التي سادت في الأندلس، ومدى تأثيرها على كل من إسبانيا والبرتغال بعد انتهاء الوجود العربي الإسلامي في شبه الجزيرة الآيبيرية. وقد أضفت إليها بحثاً خاصاً عن الموريسكيين الذين هم البقية الباقية من المسلمين الذين عاشوا في ظل الحكام الإسبان بعد سقوط القواعد الأندلسية الكبرى ولاسيما غرناطة عام 897هـ/1492م.
ولأجل تيسير رجوع القارئ الكريم إلى م صادر ومراجع الكتاب، فقد جمعت هوامش كل بحث وألحقت في نهايته، كما حذفت قائمة المصادر والمراجع الخاصة بكل بحث وألحقت بجريدة موحدة في نهاية الكتاب.
