يقدم الكاتب السعودي سعد أحمد ضيف الله روايته "ظلال الصاعقة" بأسلوب شيق وجذاب وتحكي الرواية بعين المدقق الفاحص متغيرات المجتمع ونتائج مأساة انهيار سوق الأسهم السعوديه قبل عدة سنوات.
وقد قسم الكاتب روايته إلى ستة فصول. تدور أحداثها حول شخصيتين رئيسيتين، رمزي بطل الرواية الذي تكبد العناء، وكبّد غيره الخسائر بعد انهيار بورصة الأسهم؛ والشخصية الأخرى هي خليل صديق رمزي، حيث فرقتهم الحياة منذ أيام الدراسة، والتقيا في الدائرة الحكومية مصادفة. وبينما سافر رمزي لتكملة دراسته الجامعية في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية، اكتفى خليل بشهادة الثانوية، ليعمل موظفاً بسيطاً في دائرة حكومية حيوية. يتعلق قلب الأخير بفتاة ليل في أحد الملاهي الليلية بالمنامة، وينتهي به الأمر إلى الزواج بها، مع عدم رضا ذويه بهذا الارتباط، حيث كانوا يعدون له ابنة عمه، لكنه خالفهم وأصر على الزواج بفتاة الليل. تصور الرواية ظاهرتين هزتا المجتمع السعودي، ودفعتا به إلى حياة مثيرة بلا مغزى. وعموماً، لا تخلو الرواية من مواضع أخرى من الإثارة، ومن المواقف المحزنة.
