Les elements les plus marquants ont ete empruntes aux auteurs les plus anciens, tels que Ibn Hicham, Ibn Sa'd ... et a un historien plus moderne, 'Ali Borhan ad-Dine al-Halabi. Ce dernier, dans son livre as-Sirat al-Halabia, a reuni les differentes versions donnees par les historiens les plus reputes.
Et cette remarque suffit pour avertir le lecteur qu'il ne trouvera, dans cet ouvrage, aucun de ces doctes paradoxes, destructeurs de traditions, dont se sont entiches les orientalistes modernes, dans leur paassion de l'Inedit.
