يسعى هذا الكتاب لاستجلاء البعد الإيماني في الإحياءات العاشورائية، كما ويريد التركيز على الدور النهضوي للشعائر الحسينية، وذلك عبر دراسة تتألف من ثلاثة فصول:
الفصل الأول: ويتناول معنى الشعيرة في الإسلام، وكيف تتفاعل مع البيئة الاجتماعية والثقافية فتنتج بعض المراسم الخاصة واللصيقة بها... ثم يدرس بعد ذلك الشعائر العاشورائية وعلاقتها بأصل الشعيرة في الإسلام، وما هي تأثيراتها الإيمانية والتاريخية... دارساً بنفس الوقت الخلفية التاريخية -الدينية للشعائر الحسينية، والتي تتمثل بنهضة الإمام الحسين وأهدافها...
الفصل الثاني: يستعرض فيه الشعائر الحسينية بصنوفها الثلاث... ودورها في إحداث التغيير النفسي لدى الملتزم بها، ثم كيف أنها تشكل الهوية الجمعية للمؤمنين بخط الإمام الحسين... ثم يخلط الهدفية الإبلاغية في الشعائر الحسينية. ومدى الانسجام المنظومي بين هذه الشعائر في رسم مسار النهوض الإسلامي.
الفصل الثالث: استعرض بعض الاتجاهات التي كان لها آراؤها في السلوكيات الإحيائية للمراسم والشعائر العاشورائية... بعد ذلك عمل على تبيان المائز التجديدي الذي طرحه الإمام الخميني في التفاعل النهضوي مع الشعائر العاشورائية.
مما يعني أن هذا الكتاب، يدخل في ما يمكن أن نصنفه بـ"أدبيات النهوض" الإسلامي بوجهه العام، والنهوض الإسلامي المعاصر على وجه الخصوص.
