وقد وقع الاختيار على موضوع (الصيغة السببية في اللغة الأكدية دراسة صرفية دلالية مقارنة مع اللغة العربية)، لما لهذا الموضوع من أهمّيّة لغوية، لا يمكن تجاهلها، ولاسيما أن الكلمة مقسمة عند النحاة على ثلاثة أقسام؛ هي(الاسم، والفعل، والحرف، أو ما يُسمّى - أيضاً - بالأداة). ومؤكد أن الصيغ الفعلية تمثّل العمود الذي ترتكز عليه الجملة في غالبية اللغات، فيجري بموجبها تحديد القائم بالفعل، ومَن وقع عليه تأثير الفعل، فضلاً عن التحديد النسبي لزمن وقوع الفعل، وإن كان الزمن هو مسؤولية السياق، تُعدّ الصيغة السببية واحدة من أهم المواضيع في اللغة الأكدية، فالعديد من النصوص تحمل في مضامينها مفاهيم هذه الصيغة التي يرتكز معناها على التسبّب في وقوع الفعل، وقد جاءت الدراسة للوقوف على معطيات هذه الصيغة، وبيان أوجه استعمالها، وكيفية تصريفها، والمعاني الدقيقة التي حدت بالفرد المتكلم باللغة الأكدية لاستعمالها دون غيرها من الصيغ الأخرى التي - ربّما - ماثلتها في المعنى، محتكمين بذلك إلى النصوص المسمارية؛ لتكون الفيصل في توضيح وظائفها؛ كما سنعمد إلى الاسترسال في أسلوب المقارنة مع اللغة العربية؛ لأن المنهج المقارن يساعد الدارس على تذوّق اللغة الأكدية. ومن الأسباب المباشرة التي دفعت لاختيار الموضوع هو أن العديد من الدراسات التي تناولت قواعد اللغة الأكدية بصورة عامة جلّها أعدّها الباحثون الغربيون، وهي دراسات مقتضبة، لم تختص لدراسة أساليب اللغة، ونحوها، وصرفها.
