علينا أن نستوعبَ بوذا ومحمد كما استوعب القديس توما الأكويني أرسطو"، يقول الفيلسوف المسيحي المعاصر والراهب جاك ماريتان.
هل يمكن للكنيسة أن تخاف من اليوغا والهندوسية وهي لم تخف مما هو أخطر منهما: الفلسفة اليونانية الوثنية؟... وبالفعل فالتفاعل بين الهندوسية والمسيحية قديم جّداً، ويعود إلى بداية الكنيسة.
وفي المسيحية، لا سيما المسيحية الشرقية، مؤثرات هندوسية ويوغية عديدة، وإذا كانت الكنيسة قد انفتحت على الهندوسية واليوغا منذ ألوف السنين، فهل من الجائز أن تكون منغلقة الآن؟!... الكنيسة عبر تاريخها ولم تخف من الإنفتاح على أيّ تيار أو مذهب جاورته، وقد أثبتت قدرة تمثل وإستيعاب فائقة.
من هنا، نجد الكثير من طرق الصلاة والتأمل عند آباء البرية قريبة من الطرق الهندية أو متأثرة بها...
وعليه، نجد أن اليوغا أثارت وما زالت تُثير مختلف الآراء المعلّقة على علامات إستفهام وهذا ما سيعطي لدراسة الدكتور صليبا أهميّتها من حيث معالجة إشكاليّة هذه الممارسة بطريقة تختلف عمّا سبقها في الدراسات الأخرى التي تُفرّض على القارئ من دون أن تساعده على التمييز؛ فإذا ما أراد المسيحيّ ان يردّ اليوم على الإتهامات التي تطاول اليوغا، ماذا عساه يقول؟....
يستوقفه سؤال منطقيّ طرحه الدكتور لويس صليبا، يثير التساؤل وهذا هو أسلوب العالِم الذي لا يتهجّم بل يردّ بأسئلة تثير أسئلة أخرى: "هل يمكن للكنيسة أن تخاف من اليوغا والهندوسيّة وهي لم تخف ممّا هو أخطر منهما: الفلسفة اليونانيّة الوثنيّة؟".
هذا السؤال يطرحه المؤلّف منذ البداية، مستدركاً ما أشرنا إليه من تناقض وتضارب في الآراء مستهلاًّ كتابه بملحق تحت عنوان: "المسيحيّة واليوغا: مسلكان متناقضان أم متكاملان؟" يتبعه العنوان الآخر الفرعيّ: "قنوات الإتّصال بين المسيحيّة واليوغا".
