ولد الدكتور عبد السلام بنعبد العالي بمدينة سلا سنة 1945 حاصل على الدكتوراه في الفلسفة، وهو أستاذ جامعي بجامعة محمد الخامس بالرباط، له كثير من المقالات والدراسات العلمية، بالإضافة إلى مجموعة مهمة من الكتب التي نشرت له ومنها ما هو مشترك بينه وبين مفكرين أمثال المفكر سالم يفوت في كتاب درس الإبستمولوجيا .

يتّجه عبد السلام بنعبد العالي مباشرةً في كتابه "الفلسفة فنّاً للعيش" الصادر عن دار "توبقال للنشر" نحو فنّ السعادة. ما نفع الأدب إن لم يكن موجهاً إلى الحياة؟ ثمة سعادات كثيرة متنوعة غير السعادة المعنوية أو الروحية. سعادة الوسائل والروابط، القناطر، سعادة الثانوي، المستهجن في ثقافتنا. إنّها عبارة عن مسارات سعادة، وهنا تكمن قيمتها.
"لذة الكتابة، على سبيل المثال، تظهر أثناء الكتابة ومن خلالها، وليست هي غاية تتوجها ولا نتيجة تتمخض عنها". الفلسفة والأدب، كلاهما حاجة الذات إلى تدبير شؤونها، بما يتصل باللذة والطعام ومعرفة الصحيح والخطأ، المقاومة والاذعان سواسية، ومن المأساة اختصارهما على الأفكار والمفاهيم فحسب، وكذلك حصرهما بالكتب، وبالكتب فقط. حينئذٍ، سيخالفان فنّ العيش.
