يتناول هذا الكتاب فلسفة "غرتفريد فيلهلم لا يبينتز" ، (1646-1716م) نقله إلى العربية الدكتور ألبير نصري نادر، وهو قراءة في كتاب المونادولوجيا الذي ينقسم وفقاً للمترجم إلى تسعين فقرة، يعرض فيها ليبنتز أفكاره بكل دقة، والكتاب حصيلة أو نتيجة تفكير استغرق أكثر من ثلاثين عاماً أصبح ليبتنز بعده متشبعاً تماماً بمذهبه، وهو يقوم على فكرة جوهرية أن "النفس والجسم هما شيء واحد ننظر إليه على وجهين اثنين، ولا يحدث شيء في وجه منهما دون أن يحدث شيء في الوجه الآخر، فنحن منخدعون في قولنا أن هناك جوهرين مختلفين، وهذا ما يصفه ليبنز بالمونادا، لذلك اعتبر كل مونادا وحدة في غاية البساطة، لا أجزاء فيها، وأن كل مونادا لا تدرك فقط بعض المونادات الأخرى بل كلها، بل العالم بأسره. وأجسام الحيوانات والإنسان مركبة من مونادات سفلى ومن روح أو نفس وهي مونادا حاكمة مرتبطة بهذه المجموعة من المونادات السفلى.
ولما كانت هذه الفلسفة ملخصة في كتاب ليبنز - يقول المترجم - : وجدنا أن ننقله إلى العربية مع شرح يعطي فكرة شاملة عن فلسفة تدل على عبقرية فذة. ونقدم في نهاية المونادولوجيا ترجمة لكتاب "المبادىء العقلية للطبيعة وللنعمة" حتى يستطيع القارىء من مقارنة الكتابين وملاحظة الشبه الموجود بينهما ...
هذا، وقد أشار المترجم إلى اعتماده في الترجمة على النص الفرنسي الذي نشره عام 1881م (تولن) أستاذ الفلسفة بكلية الآداب بمونبلييه معتمداً على النسخة الأصلية التي نشرها (أردمان) عام 1840م. وقارن تولن هذه النسخة بالنسخة التي نشرها عام 1881م الأستاذ بوترو معتمداً على مخطوطات هانوفر، وقد حرر ليبتنز كتاب "المونادولوجيا" باللغة الفرنسية.
محتويات الكتاب: 1- حياة ليبنتز (1846-1716) ومؤلفاته، 2- فلسفته: أنواع الأفكار، تنظيم مواد المعرفة، منهاج المعرفة، الجبر، الميتافيزيقا، البحث عن الجوهر ... الخلود ، 3- تحرير "المونادولوجيا"، 4- المونادولوجيا: مبادىء الفلسفة أو قضايا فلسفية كتبت للأمير أوجين 1714، 5- المبادىء العقلية للطبيعة والنعمة.
