تعتبر هذه الدراسة عملاً إحيائياً تحديثياً لمقدمة ابن الحاجب "الشافية في التصريف والخط".. قمة التأليف في الصرف مادة ومنهجاً حتى منتصف القرن السابع الهجري.. وقد شرحت بالعربية والتركية، والفارسية، ووصل عدد شروحها إل خمسة وعشرين شرحاً... كما نقلت إلى التركية والفارسية.
أما الأحياء فكان بطباعة الشافية، بعد تبويب محتوياتها، وفهرسة موضوعاتها، وإضافة المباحث التي أحال ابن الحاجب القارئ لدراستها في "كافيته"، وبعد ضبط ما يلزم بالشكل التام.
وأما التحديث فكان بدراسة "أبنية الفعل في شافية ابن الحاجب" في مقدمة، وبابين، وخاتمة.
