أنيقاً تجلس، كوابل الشهد، تقول: "عطشان!"، كلمةٌ واحدةٌ تنفرط حلوةً كحبة رمان، رمان تشرين الذي أحب، رمان صدري الذي على إنتظار، رمان الوعود الباذخة.
ينفلتُ صهيلٌ نازفٌ من دمي، (ضمّتي، أَحِلني أثيراً خالصاً)، والرقيب الحاضر في كل وقتٍ يردعك عن ضمّي، تضمّ كأس الماء الذي شربتُ نصفه، تخمش قلبي بفرحةٍ مباغتة، ترشف نصف كأسي حتى القطرة الأخيرة، وأرشف رجفة صوتكِ في لفظ: (عطشان) أشفَّ من طعم قبلةٍ طويلة.
لو من يدي أسقيك كمشة ماءٍ مجبولٍ بتميمةٍ تبقيك قربي إلى الأبد.
"حقدتُ عليكَ لأنك بعتني بألمانيا"... "ولم أحقد عليك لأنكِ بعتِني بخليل"... لم أكن؛ وصرت بخير، صارت المدينة كلها لي، تحاذيني يدك بنصف لمسة وسط حواريها القديمة، أرعشُ كأني ما أزال أستشعرها منذ أوصيتني: "حياتي انتبهي لمدرستك"، كأنّ قربك أزلياً كان، كأني ربيتُ معك.
كنتَ لا أدري: أبحكمةٍ أم بمكرٍ أم بثقةٍ كتبتَ لي على القصاصة الصغيرة أنك تُسلم القياد لي لإختيار الزمان والمكان في هذي المدينة التي لم تدخل قلبك يوماً، بينما أنا التي تتبعك الآن كطيفٍ مخمورٍ يُجيدُ الإنصات ولا يُجيد سواه: "كيف أنتِ؟"...
يهمسّ الهمسُ في كبدي: أنا العطش الصرف، أنا الشوق المُصفّى...
وقد حصلت هذه الرواية على جائزة كتارا للرواية العربية للعام 2018
