يتحدث الكتاب عن مسرح ما يزال يمر بمرحلة التأسيس. ولكون هذه المرحلة من أصعب المراحل وأكثرها تعقيداً باعتبارها ستمنح المسرح في عمان توجهه الآني والمستقبلي، فإنه من الواجب التوقف وإمعان النظر إلى ماهية المسارات التي نتخيرها للمسرح في عمان والتي نرجو أن تحقق طموحات وآمال المسرحيين. فما أحوجنا إذن إلى تثبيت الجذور لتنبثق القمم عالية باسقة.
يؤكد الكتاب بأنه لا يجدر بأي حركة فنية مسرحية محلية أن تنأى بأطروحتها وتنعزل عن الحركة المسرحية العالمية فلا تستفيد من المناهج المتقدمة والتجارب والخبرات المتطورة في كيفية توظيف التراث الشعبي كمضمون وكأطر فنية متفوقة للعرض المسرحي للحديث. عليه فإنه ما نعنيه بالمعاصرة أن يكون المسرح في عمان، إلى جانب خصوصيته المأمولة، جزءاً من الحركة المسرحية العالمية مستفيداً من كل الإنجازات التي حققتها والتي ستحققها مستقبلاً وينهل منها ويرفد فيها.
