أحببت صحراتي وإن هي أجدبت... إذ أنبتت حرية وصعابا... ولكم هويت من الجبال سموها... لو لم تقف دون الفضاء حجابا...
بهذين البيتين افتتح الشاعر الضخم "لفحاته"، لوحة زيتية من الكبرياء والعظمة، لغة سمراء فيها ثقل، فيها حرارة، فيها عنفوان.
إنني أتصور النجفي، إنساناً كبيراً، وضع قلبه في كفه ذراعه، ووضع رأسه في كفة ذراعه الأخرى، ومد ذراعيه الإثنتين إلى الأمام طويلاً ليعصر قلبه وفكره مياهاً مقدسة يسقي بها صحارى عقولنا المخدرة، فيستنبتها كرامات وأمجاداً، ويبعث الحياة فيها أهازيج حارة، إذا كان فيها من الإنسان نغم واحد، ففيها من الله أنغام وأنغام.
شاعر كبير، في شعره خصب القريحة، وبراعة التصوير وصدق اللهجة وسمو الخيال وهبه إياها الله، فإستطاع بدوره أن يهبها الناس، بعد أن خمرها برائحة الأرض، بنسيم النبوة، بحرارة الإخلاص، بجرأة الإيمان، بندى الحق والعدل، بنور الإعتزاز، فإذا بأدبه ضمير الحاضر يحبل بروح المستقبل، وآلام الساعة تحبل بمولود الغد السعيد وطاقة الجهاد الأغبر تناطح عفاريت السوء والشر في أرض يرعى فيها الشر الأخضر واليابس.
"لفحات" طيبات من النسيم الرقيق اللطيف، من الهواء المتحرك، من الرياح الهدارة... تلقح الوجه فتخلق فيه سمرة الحياة عندنا، وتضرب في القلب فتزيده ثباتاً على المحن وتعصف في النفس فتجعلها كتلة إنسانية جبارة من العواطف من الأحاسيس من الإرادة، تحيا بها الصراع والمحبة والشوق مع... أحمد الصافي النجفي... في "لفحاته".
