هذا كتاب في التاريخ، جعله مؤلفه "ابن قاضي شبهة" مختصراً لتاريخه الذي ذيل به على تواريخ من تقدمه من مؤرخي الشام: الذهبي، وابن كثير، والحسيني وغيرهم، وبالنظر لأهمية هذا المختصر فقد اعتنى "عدنان درويش" بتحقيقه فسعى إلى تقسيم مادته على أربعة أجزاء، أولها يبتدئ بأول التاريخ بسنة 741للهجرة، وينتهي في نهاية سنة 750 للهجرة. وثانيها: يبتدئ بأول سنة 751للهجرة، وينتهي مع نهاية سنة 780 للهجرة. وثالثها: يبتدئ بأول سنة 781 للهجرة، وينهي مع نهاية القرن الثامن: 800 للهجرة، ورابعها يبتدئ ببداية القرن التاسع، سنة 801 للهجرة، وينتهي في أواخر سنة 808 للهجرة.
وبذلك يستقيم هذا التاريخ الضخم في أربعة أجزاء متوازية في الحجم ومساوية تقريباً للتجزئة التي اعتمدها نساخ الكتاب، وذلك تيسيراً لنشره مطبوعاً.
