إنّ ما ننشده من هذا البحث هو معرفة هذه الرسائل المحمّدية وربطها بالواقع السياسي والإجتماعي والدّيني والإقتصادي والحضاري، وإدراك مضامينها ونقدها والتعليق عليها، وذلك بتحديدها ووصفها وضبط أسبابها ونتاجها، ثمّ النظر في وضع الكتّاب والمرسل إليهم، وإنزالهم في سياقهم التاريخي والسياسي والدّيني والنفسي، فقد كان لهؤلاء دور في إغناء هذه الوثائق، وقد حاولنا التعريف بذلك الدور وفق سياق المبحث.
ويبدو أنّ مضامين رسائل محمّد وقع تفخيمها بفعل التراكم الزمني والنفحة الإيمانية المناصرة للإسلام والمسلمين والحضارة العربية والسنّة الإسلامية، يضاف إلى ذلك النفس المقدّس المبالغ فيه في تضخيم شخصية محمّد بإعتبارها معصومة من الوقوع في الزلل، فعسر بذلك الفصل بين الدوال وبين الذات والموضوع المبحوث فيه، وبين الحقيقة والأسطورة، وقد انعكست هذه المياسم على طبيعة هذه الرسائل وأهميتها وأبعادها الحضارية وأنماط قراءتها، وعلى مدى صدق التفسيرات الموصولة بها وأنواعها.
إنّ قراءتنا لهذه الرسائل المحمّدية هي عبارة عن محاورة لها، وفهم للخطاب والسياقات التي وردت فيها دون الوقوع في أسرها، وهي محاولة منّا لمعرفة ماذا حدث زمن محمّد وقبله وبُعيده؟ وكيف يُمكن ان نتعامل مع أخبار الامم القديمة ولا سيما اليهودية والنصرانية وأساطير الفرس وخطبهم وأخبارهم التي تُعدّ من الأصول في الترسّل المحمّدي؟...
وإلى أيّ حدّ استفاد محمّد من الموضوعات الموصولة بأنساب العشائر وأخبار القبائل في الجزيرة العربية والتوتر والمشاحنات التي عمّت العرب وغيرهم من الأجناس الأخرى قبل الإسلام؟ وإلى أيّ مدى أثرت هذه المقاولات والأخبار والطبائع والسلوكات والذهنيات في شخصية محمّد ونفسيته ومساره الترسّلي؟...
