الاستثمار في الأوراق المالية هو أحد أهم أدوات الاستثمار غير المباشر في الاقتصاد الحديث وتتزايد أهمية بورصات الأوراق المالية في العالم اجمع يوما بعد يوم نتيجة زيادة الاتجاه إلى تحرير الأسواق والاعتماد على القطاع الخاص في قيادة قاطرة التنمية. ونظرا لهذه الهمية المتزايدة فقد بدأت بورصاتنا العربية في تطوير امكانياتها وقدراتها لتتواكب مع هذه المعطيات عن طريق التوافق مع المعايير العالمية للبورصات المتقدمة ولتأهيل البورصة بها لكي تكون إحدى الأدوات الهامة للتنمية ومصدرا لجذب رؤوس الاموال الأجنبية. والاستثمار في الأوراق المالي ما هو الا تخصيص جزء من الأموال لتظيفها في أصول مالية لفترة من الزمنم للحصول على تدفقات نقدية مستقبلا ، أى ان المستثمر يخصص جزءا من المال يتاجر به على أمل الحصول على عائد في المستقبل وهذا الاستثمار اما ان يكون استثمار فرديا أى شراء ورقة أصل مالي واحد فقط ، او استثمارا متعددا ويطلق عليه المحفظة الاستثمارية وتعنى ان يوقم المستثمر بتكوين مجموعة الأصول المالية وتحقيق التوظيف الأمثل لما تمتلكة هذه الأصول من أموال. ونظرا لما لاحظناه من ضعف في المعلومات لدى المواطن العادي وخلط كبير بين الأوراق المالية وارواق النقد وبين أسواق الصرافة واسواق الأوراق المالية فاننا نقدم هذا العمل المتواضع والذي نهدف منه إلى مساعدة المستثمر المبتدئ وغير المتخصص على التعرف على الأسس التى يبني عليها الاستثمار في بورصة الأوراق المالية، بحيث يمكن للمستثمر الجديد الوافد على بورصة الاوراق المالية الالمام بادواتها وكيفية التعامل فيها.
