كلود مونيه الفنان الفرنسي الذي ابتدع خلال القرن التاسع عشر نوعاً جديداً من اللوحات الفنية: الصغير الحجم، غير المتقيد بقواعد التركيب المرسومة بحرية، فتظهر المشاهد اليومية للحياة بألوان لامعة صافية. وقد كيّف مونيه ريشته مع متطلبات مواضيعه فرسم أشجار النخيل في بورد يغيرا، والأمواج الصاخبة لبحر القنال، وأكوام التين، أشجار الحور، برك الزنابق... وظل الرسم في العراء أمراً أساسياً بالنسبة له ونقطة انطلاق لرسم لوحاته. فجاءت لمساته آية في الإبداع الفني للرسم التشكيلي. وهذا الكتاب يتحدث بحرية عن مسيرة حياة هذا الفنان المبدع من خلال لوحاته الفنية الرائعة، فيخط مفارقات هامة من حياته أثرت على أسلوبه في الرسم فأوجدت نوعاً جديداً ومفهوماً مضاداً لمفهوم الفن السائد في ذلك العصر. وقد قدّم هذا الكتاب مجموعة من لوحات هذا الفنان الخالد في ذاكرة المعارض.
