تلمسان أي (تلمسان بالنطق الدارجة) التي تلقب بــ لؤلؤة المغرب الكبير، هي مدينة قديمة في شمال غرب الجزائرـ عاصمة ولاية تلمسان، ثاني مدينة من حيث الأهمية بعد وهران في الجهة الغربية، فخورة بماضيها المجيد والمزدهر، ذات المعالم الأندلسية متأصلة في المغرب الإسلامي الكبير، وصاحبة المواقع الطبيعية الخلابة هي "مدينة الفن والتاريخ" كما كان يسميها جورج مارصي، وبكثرة ما فيها من المباني الفنية الرائعة الخالدة، وبماضيها الفكري الثقافي والسياسي، المجيد فقد تضافرت جهود الطبيعة السخية الحسناء وجهود الإنسان المبدع الخلاق لتكوين مدينة متفوقة راقية ممتعة للفكر وللقلب والروح معاً، فقد بلغت ارفع مكانة في الجمال والجلال والكمال واستحقت بفضل ذلك كله أن تدعي جوهرة المغرب الكبير وغرناطة إفريقيا، وتميزها بيوتها ومساجدها البيضاء ووقوعها على هضبة تحبط أشجار الزيتون وكروم العنب، وسط مزارع الزيتون والعنب.
