حاصلٌ على جائزة أفضل الملمين بالروسية وآدابها من المركز الثقافي السوفيتي بالقاهرة (1971).
وحاصل على جائزة معرض القاهرة الدولي للكتاب، دورة 1996، عن أفضل ترجمة عربية عام 1995.
حاصلٌ على جائزة مؤسسة البحر المتوسط للكِتاب (2007).وحاصل على جائزة رفاعه الطهطاوي من المركز القومي للترجمة (2010).
وحاصل على جائزة كافافي الدولية للترجمة (2011).
حاصل على درجة الليسانس من كلية الآداب - جامعة القاهرة - قسم الدراسات الفلسفية والنفسية (1966).

يتألف هذا الكتاب من مختارات من المقالات والبحوث التى ظهر أغلبها بين عامى 1987 و1993 فى عدد من المجلات الثقافية المصرية والكتب. وتتناول هذه الكتابات جوانب من تاريخ الانتلجنتسيا الإبداعية والمفكرة وتأخذ غالباً شكل سجال مع عدد من الكتاب المصريين والأجانب، وباستخدام المنهجية الماركسية فى الكتابة التاريخية، تحاول هذه الكتابات رد الاعتبار إلى الحقيقة التاريخية وإبراز جوانب منسية من جوانب التاريخ الثقافى، ولا نملك سوى الأمل فى أن تكون هذه الكتابات مساهمة جديرة بالتأمل من جانب القارئ فى زمن إعادة تقييم القيم الذى نشهده.
