وفي واحة تلك الكتابات تنتقل الباحث من فكرة إلى أخرى، ومن رؤية إلى تحليل، إلى استشفاف ومن مقاربة إلى موازنة، كل ذلك من خلال ذهن منفتح، ونظرة موضوعية ليضفي على الكتب،: طوق الحمامة، مصارع العشاق، ديوان الصبابة، تحفة العروس ونزهة النفوس، نشوة السكران، ذم الهوى، روضة المحبين ونزهة المشتاقين، الموشى، رسالة في العشق. سمة من سمات المعاصرة، باستخراج مكنوناتها الأدبية، العلمية، الفلسفية، الاجتماعية، الإنسانية، الدينية، ووضعها في إطار بحث علمي منهجي، الغاية منه إحياء ما كان ميتاً من كتب التراث وإظهار ما كان مغيباً، وشرح ما كان غامضاً ومفسراً على غير عواهنه في تآليف الكتاب العرب المتقدمين في هذا الموضوع الحديث القديم قدم الإنسان.
العشاق في مصارعهم، الأحبة في ملذاتهم، المغرمون في صباباتهم، النفوس في سكرتها، العروس في تحفتها، المشتاقون في نزهاتهم، أخوان الصفاء وخلان الوفاء في رسائلهم، والجميع يفيض بالشعر والشغف والظرف والحكمة.
هذا بالضبط ما أراد المؤلف أن يمتع القرّاء به، فطاف كالنحلة من زهرات الأدب إلى فواكه الكتب، مستخرجاً الرحيق ومستجمعاً في هذا الكتاب كل ثمين ونادر من عشق وعفة وفلسفة وشبق.
من ابن حزم الأندلسي مروراً بابن قيّم الجوزية وأخوان الصفاء، وصولاً إلى أحمد تيمور، ومواكب المحبين تسير أمام أعين خيالنا، على جمرها المشتعل.
