في كتابه "الولاية في سورية محمد" يقف الكاتب عماد علي الهلالي على أعتاب "سورة محمد" الواردة في القرآن الكريم متأملاً متدبراً ما جاء فيها من أحاديث تبين فضل قراءتها وتلاوتها. كما جاء عن الشيخ الصدوق في كتابه (ثواب الأعمال): "من قرأ سورة "الذين كفروا" [محمد:1] لم يرتب أبداً، ولم يدخله شكٍ في دينه أبداً، ولم يبتله الله بفقر أبداً، ولا خوف من سلطان أبداً، ولم يزل محفوظاً من الشك والكفر أبداً حتى يموت..." إلى آخر الحديث.
ولإن التفسيرات التي قدمت في ثواب هذه الآية مختلفة، وخاصة أن المعاني التي تحملها وردت في معظم آيات القران الكريم، أراد المؤلف تنسيق السورة في محور واحد يقود إلى –وبحسب المؤلف- "الغرض الأساسي هو توضيح وجه جديد للسورة المباركة، وأبعد للحرج الذي يحسَه كل قارئ للقرآن إذا استهجن المخالفون أمامه تفكيك المطالب فيها، فيضيف إليه أطروحات لتوحيد مطالبها مضافاً إلى أطروحات أصحاب النظرة التفكيكية لها فيكون أبلغ في الإحتجاج على المخالف، وأكثر تثبيتاً لثقة المؤمن ببلاغة القرآن الكريم". وبناءً على ما تقدم، يعرض المؤلف أربعة مستويات من البحث والتفكير ويشرحها بالإضافة إلى أكثر من رؤية ووجهة نظر منها: مناقشة كيفية تأليف مجاميع آيات القرآن التي نزلت متفرقة في السور، وما هو المقصود منها...؟، ومنها: الجمع اللغوي بين المفردات اللغوية المختلفة للآيات مما يحتمله الوضع والإستعمال، وأخرى تتناول: الجمع بين الموضوعين المختلف ظاهرهما بحمل أحدهما على الكناية واللحت ضمن بشروطهما...، ومن ثم يبحث توحيد المواضيع يتنوع المصاديق...
وأخيراً يتطرق المؤلف إلى معاني الولاية في فترات التاريخ الإسلامي المختلفة وفي سورة محمد على وجه الخصوص، مع بحوث تمهيدية في الكتابة القرآنية ومراتب التأليف في القرآن الكريم.
