تتالت مصنفات العلماء في فضل الدعاء وآدابه ومكانته في نسق العقيدة الإسلامية، وما يحدثه من آثار نفسية وتربوية عظيمة لدى المسلم ومن أهم المصنفات ما كتبه الإمام المربي الشيخ أبو الحسن علي النوري الصفاقسي الموسوم بـ "معين السائلين من فضل رب العالمين" والذي يتضمن توجيهات النصوص الدينية التي ترشد إلى الدعاء والتضرع إلى الله تعالى ، وتبيّن سبل القيام به على الوجه الذي يرضي المتقرب إليه سبحانه به، بذكر الأحكام والضوابط الشرعية لذلك.
ما يميز هذا المصنف عن غيره أن مؤلفه حاول تنبيه القارئ إلى ما يعتبر من المنكرات والإعتداءات في الدعاء، فوضع كتاباً كان جامعاً لآداب الدعاء، وأشار لمحدثاته وبدعه المحرمة والمكروهة، ليبين للقارئ المسلم ما يجوز وما لا يجوز من بدع في الدعاء، حيث استند فيه على (القرآن الكريم)، واستخرج أركانه من سنّة سيد المرسلين، إضافة إلى أمهات الأسفار المخصصة لبحث مسألة الدعاء ككتاب الدعوات للإمام الطبراني، والأدعية للإمام أبي بكر الطرطوشي، وشأن الدعاء للإمام الخطابي وغيرها، فجلب عيون دررها وفوائدها وجمعها في هذا الكتاب.
