لما رأى شيخ الإسلام "أبى يحي زكريا الأنصارى" أن كتاب منهج الطلاب لشيخ الإسلام الإمام "أبى زكريا يحي محى الدين النووى" رحمه الله به بعض المسائل التى تحتاج إلى شرح وبعض الألفاظ التى تحتاج إلى توضيح، وطلب منه بعض الناس القيام بشرح ما غمض منه، قام بتقديم هذا الشرح إلى طلابه وقد جعله فى جزئين، وأسماه "فتح الوهاب شرح منهج الطلاب" وهو ما بين أيدينا فى هذا المجلد الضخم يحتوى الجزء الأول على كتاب الطهارة والصلاة والجنائز والزكاة والاعتكاف والصوم والحج والبيع والسلم والرهن والشركة والوكالة والإقرار، كتاب العارية والغصب والشفعة والقراض والمساقاة والاجازة وإحياء الموات والوقف والهبة واللقطة واللقيط والجعالة.
أما الجزء الثانى فيضم كتاب الفرائض والوصية والوديعة والفئ والغنيمة والزكاة والنكاح والصداق والقسم والنشوز، كتاب الخلع والطلاق والرجعة والإيلاء والظهار والكفارة واللعان والقذف والعدد والرضاع والنفقات والجناية والديات والبغاة والردة والزنا وحد القذف والسرقة، كذلك كتاب الأشربة والتعازير والصيال والجهاد والجزية والهدنة والصيد والذبائح والأضحية، الإيمان والنذر والقضاء والشهادات والدعوى والبينات، الاعتاق، التدبير وأخيراً كتاب الكتابة وأمهات الأولاد.
