يتألف هذا الكتاب المعنون "اللّغة والهويّة في الوطن العربي" من جزئين. يتحدّث الجزء الأوّل عن اللّغة والهويّة، وما يتعلّق بهما من إشكاليّاتٍ تاريخيّةٍ وثقافيّةٍ وسياسيّةٍ.
ومن بين القضايا التي تناولها بالبحث، محاولات بعض الأقليّات الإثنيّة الموجودة في العالم العربي إعادة صوغ لغاتها الأصليّة، على الرّغم من أنّ العربيّة هي اللّغة الأمّ لعددٍ كبيرٍ من تلك الأقليّات.
أمّا الجزء الثاني، وهو الكتاب الذي بين أيدينا، فيناقش إشكاليّات التّعليم والتّرجمة والمصطلح. وقد خلُص إلى نتيجةٍ رئيسةٍ مفادها أنّ اللّغة الأمّ ليست عائقًا أمام التطوّر والتّحديث، ولا تتعارض معهما، ولا سيّما في بلادنا العربيّة، بل إنّها - على العكس من ذلك - شرطٌ لا بدّ منه لعمليّة التطوّر والتّحديث.
وهذا الكتاب بجزئيه، هو محصّلة "مؤتمر اللّغة والهويّة في الوطن العربي"، الذي عقده المركز سنة 2012. وقد شارك في إعداد أوراقه كلٌّ من: رمزي بعلبكي، وإمحمد جبرون، وشمامة خير الدّين، وناجية الوريمي، وحسن حنفي، ولطيفة النجّار، وعبد الرزّاق الدواي، ورشيد بلحبيب، وعبد السّلام المسدِّي، ومحمد غاليم، ونادر سراج، وسالم لبيض، وعبد القادر الفهري، وبسام بركة، وفايز الصُياغ، وعبد الرحمن بو درع، والربعي بن سلامة، وأنور الجمعاوي، وحبيب بو هرور، وأحمد حسنين، ونادية العمري.
