"نوادر الظرفاء من الشعراء والأدباء" سلسلة طريفة تتبع أولئك الظرفاء المشاهير تأخذ عنهن ما جادت به قرائحهم من نوادر ظرفهم سواء في معابثاتهم ومطايباتهم، أو في شعرهم وبيانهم الذي صاغوا فيه طبعهم المرح اللذيذ، ومزاجهم الفكه المنادر، ثم تحدث بذلك كله من تم فيه الظرف والأدب من القراء فتطيب نفوسهم، فيمسهم الطرب فينبسطون ويضحكون وتفتر أرواحهم وهي يداخلها العجب من حس تلك النوادر الظريفة.
وهذه هي الحلقة الأولى من تلك السلسلة الطريفة الظريفة. وقد خصصناها بشيخ الظرّاف أبي نواس الماجن الأديب، والظريف الخفيف الظل. وما أحد إلا وكان يميل إلى عشرته ويحسده على قربه من النفوس لظرفه ولطفه. وقد كان أبو نواس أظرف الناس منطقاً، عذب الألفاظ لطيف البيان كثير النوادر، حتى قالوا فيه: "إذا رأيت الرجل يحفظ شعر أبي نواس علمت أن ذلك عنوان أدبه ورائد ظرفه".
