تدور أحداثها بين بلاد عديدة السعودية والولايات المتحدة وقليلاً من مصر والهند وغيرها.. كل حسب إنتقالات العائلة وأفرادها.. فيصل.. عبد اللطيف.. حصة وأمها وباقى الزوجات.. احمد وناصر.. وهنوف.. وعلياء ومشعل و .. و .. جميعهم ممن ينتمى إلى عائلة "سعد بن كعب الناصر". إنها رواية حافلة بالأحداث والشخصيات.. نرى فيها السياسة والدين و العادات الصارمة. وكثير من الموضوعات التى لاتتردد فى الأجواء الأدبية العربية إنها رواية تلتصق بالواقع العربي وأصداءه فى كافة أرجاء المعمورة.. نراها أشخاصا وأناساً لا نشرات إخبارية تخلو من النبض البشرى. فى صفحاتها نجح وباقتدا مؤلفها أن يمزج الأشخاص بالمشاعر بالأحداث دون أن يشعر قارئها باقحامها أو بحوارات فيها مدخلة على النص. إنها صفحات تستحق القراءة والتمعن .. والتقدير.
في غوانتانامو الماء الجامد أشد ألوان التعذيب الجسدى. فى غرفة خالية أرضها وحيطانها ملساء، تقف على عتبة من الرخام ويداك مربوطتان بعمود حديدى خلف ظهرك وتحت فكيك قائمان صلبان يمنعان تحرك رأسك عن مكانه. يتركونك ساعات طويلة دون أن تسمع شيئا، فقط عيناك تحاولان رؤية شئ ما. شئ يتحرك. وأذناك تتنصتان. لاشئ. لاشئ.
أحياناً تصطك أسنانك بقوة لتسمع شيئاً. ثم تهطل قطرة ماء جامدة كالصخرة على نافوخك. نقطة واحدة تظل تنتظرها. بعد ربع ساعة نقطة أخرى تهطل مثل صاعقة فى نفس البقعة من النافوخ ليس لهطولها وقت محدد. كل خمس دقائق. كل دقيقتين. كل ربع ساعة. وانت تنتظر ويطول الانتظار تود لو ينفجر الماء دفعة واحدة. تود لو يتوقف تود لو تتفجر. لو ينفجر نافوخك. تود لو تموت.
