تعد الغريزة الجنسية من أقوى واعمق الغرائز البشرية، فهي تعمل بنشاط دائب وتطالب باستجابة منتظمة، إنها أصيلة في الكيان البشري، وذلك لحكمة سامية أرادها الله سبحانه وتعالى، هذه الحكمة هي تعمير الكون وإقامة الخلافة في الأرض واستمرار الأجيال فيها.
والفطرة تقتضي الاستجابة لها وتلبية ندائها، وإلا أصاب الإنسان من تجاهلها التلف والشقاء، لذلك صار (الجنس) في منهج القرآن ليس هو ينبوع القذارة والخطيئة كما يدعي أصحاب بعض المذاهب والديانات السابقة، وليس وحدة هو الطاقة المحركة لكيان الإنسان كما يدعي (فرويد) ومدرسته، وليس هو مسألة (بيولوجية) تؤدي على قارعة الطريق، أو خلسة بين اثنين كما يفعل بعض دعاة المدنية والإباحية، وإنما هو غريزة، وغريزة لها وظيفة محدودة. والإسلام كما هو معروف لم يجامل الرجل والمرأة من هذا المطلب الفطري، وإنما ساق مجموعة من الحقوق والضوابط الشرعية التي تقيد هذه الحاجة وتهذبها.
هذا الكتاب يلقي الضوء على هذه الغريزة الإنسانية وذلك بعد أن يقسمها إلى ضوابط إيجابية كالزواج الشرعي ، وتعدد الزوجات والصوم وضوابط سلبية كتحريم نكاح المحارم، والنظر إلى العورات، ونكاح المتعة وفاحشة قوم لوط، ومن ثم يقني بشرح الوسائل والتدابير التي وضعها الإسلام في الكتاب والسنة والتي تمنع انتشار الفاحشة في المجتمع الإسلامي كالتربية والتهذيب وعقوبة أمراض فاعل اللواط، تأثير الزنا وغيرها.
