"الطائرة تمخر عباب الفضاء و عباب الليل متوجهة الى برلين. المسافرون أخلدوا الى النوم إلا جماعة ظلوا يسمرون و يتحدثون و كانوا من الطلاب الشباب المسافرين الى ألمانيا للدراسة. كنت مسنداً رأسي الى ظهر المقعد, أحاول أن أقتنص قليلاً من النوم بدوري إلا أن أفكار اليوم المولي و أحداثه ظلت تلح علي, كما أن طفلة صغيرة جعلت تركض في الممشى الفاصل بين صفي المقاعد ذاهبة آيبة فتمنع عني الهدوء و النوم. و أفكر فيما أن مقبل عليه... في برلين التي سأحط في مطارها بعد ساعات و في آني التي تنتظرني في المطار كما وعدت و في ما سيقع لي لو أني لم أجدها في المطار. لقد قمت بهذه الرحلة من أجلها. فأنا امرؤ انفعالي حساس لم أتجاوز حدود بلادي في يوم من الأيام, اللهم سوى الرحلة التي قمت بها في ربيع العام الفائت الى برلين و ذلك بعد أن دعتني ابنتي المقيمة هناك مع زوجها لقضاء أسابيع عندها و أرسلت ألي بطاقة السفر. لقد تعرفت الى آني....".
