Book Description
تتمتع جزيرة "خارج" بأهمية تاريخية كبيرة، فقد ظهرت على مسرح الأحداث منذ عهد الأسكندر المقدوني ولعبت دوراً بارزاً في التجارة بين الهند والخليج العربي وشواطئ البحر الأبيض المتوسط لفترة زادت عن أربعة قرون، انتهى سنة 224م.
تقريباً بقيام الدولة الساسانية، وذلك عندما قام اردشير بن يابك - مؤسس الدولة الساسانية - بالأستيلاء على دولة ميسان (Mesene) وجعلها ولاية من الولايات التابعة لدوته، كما لعبت دوراً بارزاً - سياسياً وعسكرياً - في طرد الإستعمار الهولندي من منطقة الخليج العربي في منتصف القرن الثامن عشر الميلادي.
وبالرغم من هذا كله، فقد ارتبط اسم جزيرة "خارج" - في أذهان الناس - بالعهد البهلوي الذي جعل من الجزيرة منفى للمثقفين المعارضين للنظام.
ثم صارت جزيرة خارج - منذ عام 1960- قاعدة أساسية لتصدير النفط الخام الإيراني، بعد أن مُدت إليها أنابيب النفط من حقول كجساران، وأقيمت فيها المنشآت النفطية الأخرى، وبعض مصانع البتروكيماويات، فتحولت الجزيرة بذلك إلى خلية من الخلايا المهمة في البنية الإقتصادية الإيرانية.
وقد برز اسم جزيرة "خارج" بشكل متميز، في الحرب العراقية - الإيرانية، عندما استهدفها الطيران العراقي في محاولة للضغط على النظام الإيراني لإنهاء الحرب، فاتجهت إليها أنظار العالم، لمعرفة موقعها وتأريخها وأهميتها الإقتصادية والإستراتيجية.
