إن الأهمية التاريخية لهذه المذكرات التي ألقاها نوري السعيد على طلاب كلية الأركان ببغداد عام 1947، تصور المعارك الحربية التي نشبت بين الثوار العرب في الجزيرة العربية بقيادة الشريف الحسين بن علي وبين الجيوش التركية في الحجاز للفترة بين 1911918.
إن هذه المذكرات عن الثورة العربية في الجزيرة العربية وفي سوريا والعراق تكتسب أهمية كبيرة من الناحيتين العسكرية والتاريخية، ويورد في حقائق وملابسات الصراع الذي دار بين الجيوش الإنكليزية والجيوش التركية والجيوش العربية التي دخلت الحرب إلى جانب الإنكليز.
