وبالعودة لأحداث هذه الرواية نجدها تروي قصة حب عنيف يربط (هيثكليف وكاثرين) الذين تربيا معاً، هيثكليف يتم يرعاه والد كاثرين، ويراعاه مما أثار غيرة شقيق كاثرين الذي يتحين الفرص ويقبض عليها عند وفاة والده ويبدأ باضطهاد هيثكليف، ويدخل حياة الأسرة أو ليفييه الذي يخطب كاثرين التي توافق على الزواج بعد تردد، عندها يصاب هيثكليف بصدمة يقرر بعدها الرحيل، ليعود بعدها حاملاً معه حب الانتقام من الجميع.
