كان الأستاذ امين الخولي احد هؤلاء المفكرين الذين عبروا البحر إلى أوروبا وأتصلوا بحياتها المتجددة وظل على اتصال دائم ما يجري في مصر من مظاهر التجديد وما يدور بين المجددين والمحافظين من جدل. ولقد كان يستغرق في الجدل استغراق الفلاسفة.. وينفذ به إلى القضايا المطروحة فيدلف إلى جوهرها ويحتويها بثاقب فكره.. ولقد رفده تياران كبيرا. تيار الثقافة العربية الأصيلة وثقافة الغرب فامتزجا نسيجا فكريا متسقا ينظر به إلى قضايا البحث والدرس الفكري. ولقد تعامل مع التراث- شغله الفكري- فبين مدى حاجته إلى ما وصل إليه الفكر الإنساني من علم ومعرفة حتى يؤتي ثماره ويظل على مدى الدهر قادرا على الحياة والنماء. ولقد صنع بهذا التفكير العلمي مدرسة في البحث والدرس الديني والأدبي.. مدرسة لها تقاليدها الفكرية وأسسها المرسومة. وأعلامها فقلبت التربة وبذرت البذور وفاضت بالثمار.
