هذه رسالة لطيفة في بيان الحكم الشرعي في نازلة مهمة، لفتت أنظار الباحثين، وشغلت بالهم، منذ القرن التاسع الهجري، ألا وهي مسألة "خلو الرجل" كما يطلق عليها المصريون وعامة أهل بلاد الشام، أو "القفلية" أو "السرقفلية" كما يطلق عليها العراقيون، أو "الفروغية" كما هي معروفة عند بعض أهل الشام، لا سيما أهل "حماة" أو "نقل القدم" أو "خلو الرجل" كما وردت في بعض كتب الفقه.
ولعل هذه الرسالة من أوائل الرسائل التي صنفت في هذا الموضوع، وهي عبارة عن رد على رسالة لأحد علماء الحنفية، أفتى فيها بمشروعية "الخلو"، ونسبه لمذهب الحنفية، معتمداً على ورود لفظة "السكنى" في بعض كتب فروع المذهب المعتمدة.
فانبرى أبو الإخلاص إلى دفع هذا الظن، وأيد المنع بأن القصد من "خلو الوقف" في زمانه "إيصاله للرهبان والقسيسين، وبناء الكنائس".
