هذا الكتاب عبارة عن سردية من سير ذاتية جاءت تحت عنوان "رهبة الكتابة" للأستاذ "فيصل فرحات"، تدور أحداثها ما بين ربيع 1969 وخريف 1970 في بيروت وجبل لبنان يُعبّر بها الكاتب عما شعر به في أول خطوة بدأها حين بدأ بالكتابة في سن مبكرة.
حيث بدأت ذاتيته تراقبه في حركاته وسكناته، فيسجل ما يحصل له في البيت والمدرسة والحي والذي يسكنه وجيرانه، فكانت هذه الأحداث والتناقضات في حياة تلميذ في المدرسة البداية الأولى التي شحذت همته في الكتابة وكانت دافعاً قوياً له ليفرغ على أوراق كان يخبأها عن أبيه، هذه الهمسات، وهذه الكلمات، التي عبرت عما يجول في خاطر هذا الصغير، هذا الحلم الذي تحول إلى حقيقة فيما بعد.
ولكن ماذا كتب وعن ماذا كتب وهل كان صادقاً بما عبَّر عنه، يقول في سطور: "وحين حاولت مرة أن لا أكتب عن خطأ فعلته، أو عن تصرف غير مهذب ظهر مني في النهار مع رفاقي في المدرسة كما في الحي، توقفت برهة عن الكتابة، مفكراً في الكذب وفي الصدق. فإخترت بأن أكون صادقاً كي أكتب عن الصدق، وأن أكون صادقاً في الحياة كي أكون صادقاً على الورق".
سيرة ذاتية مُعبرة تروي حكاية كفاح يومي وإنجاز لرجل تخطى صيعاب كثيرة، وخطا أول خطوة في طريق النجاح وكان له ذلك، فقط، لإنه صادق فيما كتبه.
