منذ عتبة العنوان الأولى (أخافُ عليكِ) يدرك القارئ أن الشاعر فهد العُودة أراد تحديد نوع الخطاب الذي سوف تقدمه القصيدة، لذلك نجد أن أكثر صور المرسل إليهم من النساء، في نزعة ذات منحى رومانسي واضح، كشفت بشكواها العاطفية عن إحساسات الشاعر بالجنس الآخر (المرأة) وفي قراءة عالمها الداخلي، لذلك تتعدد حالات النساء اللاتي يبعث الشاعر إليهن برسائله منها رسالة "إلى امرأة خائفة"، ورسالة "إلى امرأة لم تعد مسؤولة" وثالثة إلى "إلى امرأة تخشى الإعتراف"... وغيرها من العناوين، لنقرأ قصيدة معنونة بــ "إلى امرأة لم تصحُ من نوبة الحنين" يقول الشاعر العودة: "الذي لا يحبكِ لن يبكي معكِ... ولن يجيئكِ وأنت في الحاجة إليه... الذي لا يرسل لكِ رسالة تُعبّر عن مدى بؤسه... وأنتِ لا تشاركينه يومه... لن يقلق عليكِ... حتى لو نمتِ في جبين الغياب باقي العمر!... لا تكوني امرأة غائبة عن الحياة... فالذي دفن السكين في صدرك!... لن يعود لأجل أن يسعفكِ من الموت!".
هذا ما تشغّره الرؤية الشعرية للشاعر العُودة وإحساسه العميق بنصفه الآخر، وقد عبر عن ذلك بلغة رومانسية مؤنثة بالأناقة، والجمال، وهو ينقلنا من صورة إلى أخرى، بقلب طافح بحب لا ينضب.
يضم الكتاب قصائد في الشعر العربي الحديث جاءت في أربعة عناوين رئيسية هي: 1-إلى امرأة... حول هذا العالم، 2-لماذا لا تحب امرأة... 3-إلى امرأة... حول القلب، 4-أخافُ عليكِ.
