"ما معنى أن تكون وحيداً" عبارة لا يدرك معناها إلا من عاشها؛ وليس أقدر من الشعراء على وصفها، وها هو "فهد العُودة" يخطها قصيدة، تمثل معاناة الذات وإحساسها بالضياع والتلاشي، لانعدام وجود الآخرين والمشاركة الوجدانية، وقد استطاعت القصيدة تحقيق هذه الدلالات عبر تأشير وجه المفارقة الحقيقية في شخصية الكائن البشري في علاقته بالآخر، مهما تعددت صوره - كما تشي بذلك مفردات الشاعر - فهو في نهاية الأمر يعني (الإنسان) الذي يفتقده الشاعر والقارىء ويشتاقان إلى وجوده في حياتهما.
يقول الشاعر: "أتعلم ما معنى أن تكون وحيداً .. ولا أحد جانبك؟/ حين يهجرك جميع الأصدقاء والأحباء،/ ويستوطنك الجفاءُ والغرباء ../ هنا يشي بك المساء، / ويخبر الأحزان عن مدى حزنك وألمكَ/ لتحاربك كطاغية/ هنا تطيرُ الغربان فوق سمائك،/ لتنهش جرحك كمائدةٍ وتزيد صرختك/ (...)/ في بعض الأحيان/ نحتاج إلى مقبرةٍ داخل أرواحنا،/ للأشياء التي تموت بداخلنا ..!". هكذا يرفع شاعرنا الرقابة عن قلمه ويدعه ليجول خارج الأقفاص الكبيرة التي يقيمها العالم باستمرار، هذا هو مناخ فهد العودة/ الشاعر في كل مشاهده وارتحالاته، إنه قائم على عفوية القول الذي تتوالى صوره في درامية واضحة، فكانت سلم الشاعر إلى الحقيقة الأعمق في الذات الإنسانية، والحياة عموماً. أليس هو القائل: "لا أعلم تماماً هل أخطأ أبي حين سمّاني "فهد" هل كان يجب عليه أن يسميني "فقد" فقد العودة .. نعم فقدتُ العودة إلى من أحببت ...".
